Sadies 2012 & '13

I know it's kind of odd to post about Sadies that happened over a year ago, but I figured since I didn't post about it last year, and still have to post about this year's Sadies, I might as well do it at the same time. :)

Throwback to junior year...

I asked a guy in my ward - Caleb.  The theme was Carnival, so we made matching t-shirts with splattered paint on them. We had such a fun time and I loved our group. :)

I love the editing on this one :)

After pictures, we blindfolded the guys and walked
them to Jessica's (in the red) house for dinner. It was great. :)

Senior Year Sadies...

The theme was.......wait for it.......DISNEY!!!

It was absolutely wonderful and probably one of my top favorite themes, if not my favorite dance themes thus far in high school.  I absolutely love Disney as it is, but being able to dress up as a Disney character was the best! :D

Since I had to stick with wearing a hat, I went with......JESSIE!!! From Toy Story :)  I asked David, who dressed up as Woody.  It was just a blast.  Plus we had some awesome costumes in our group :)

I just love this one - it's so cool!! It was David's idea :)
We ate dinner at Breanna's house (in the Incredibles t-shirt), went to the dance, had a blast, and ended with playing games at Emily's house (the one with the halo).  It was just a blast! :D

Homecoming 2013

On August 31st, I found this on my front lawn:

I had been asked to Homecoming!! :)  It was yet another miracle.  I was sooo excited!! :)  This was a week and a day following my surgery, and I had no idea how I would be feeling 2 weeks from then.  But Noah had talked to my mom and he said that he would be willing to do whatever I was feeling up to - even if it meant forgoing the dance and just watching a movie. :)  How nice is that? :) For the time being, we decided to just play it by ear.

A dress needed to be found.  We thought, given the circumstances, we would just go the casual route and get a dress that was more like a church dress for the occasion.  We found a super cute cream and yellow polka dotted dress that I thought would be perfect.  So we bought it.

Now for a story...

Once upon a time, during a time when I was hardly going to school, a friend texted me and told me I had been nominated for Homecoming Queen.  I was super surprised, and I had no idea who had nominated me.  Since I was only attending school about half the time, I had no idea what was going on with the ballot and voting and everything.  So all I could do was just sit back and see what happened.  Later, I found out that two of my best friends had been the ones to nominate me and get some of my other friends to nominate me as well.  How sweet are they??  They are truly the best. :D

The morning of Friday, September 13th, my mom came into my bedroom at 5:00 am, woke me up, and told me that I had been chosen to be Homecoming Queen.  I couldn't believe it!!  I never, in a million years, thought I would be my high school's Homecoming Queen.  I just didn't think it was possible.  But it was!! :D  Amidst the excitement, I was extremely humbled that the student body would choose ME to represent them as this year's Homecoming Queen.  Two members of the student council came and kidnapped me and took me to another student council member's house to have breakfast.  We were met there with the rest of the Homecoming Royalty: the King, and 1st and 2nd Attendants.  There, sitting on the table in front of my chair was my sash and the tiara.  It was so surreal.  We ate a delicious breakfast, and then they drove me back home.  I couldn't wait for the football game that night.

Back to the dress.  Now that I was Homecoming Queen, the dress we had chosen wasn't going to work so well just leaving it as it was.  We knew we needed to dress it up somehow.  So, we went to a lady who rents dresses.  She has TONS of them, along with lots of jackets and accessories.  I had rented a dress from her the year before, and we knew she could help us.  We brought the dress with us, asked her about renting a jacket, and what she would suggest, all the while telling her my story - including the most recent about Homecoming Queen.  She said, "Just go pick out something you want and I'll let you borrow it for the dance."  We protested, but she insisted and she would not let us pay her.  After looking for a while, and trying some on, we found one that would be lovely; it just needed a few alterations.  It was one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for us. :)  She is an angel.

But we had a dilemma.  I had a tiara to wear, and putting it over one of my hats just wasn't an option.  My super nice cousin sent me a few wigs in case I wanted to try them out.  We decided this would be the perfect time to use one.  One of my best friends' mom is wonderful with these kind of things, so I spent a few hours at her house getting the wig on, and fixed up for my introduction as Homecoming Queen.  She is also the one who altered the dress from the dress shop that I would wear the next night to the dance.  She is another angel. :)

At the Homecoming game, during halftime, all of the Homecoming Royalty got to ride onto the field in the back of 3 huge trucks.  The King and Queen (Kelton and I) were the first to ride out in front of the crowd, and as we got closer to the stands, the cheers were deafening.  So deafening, that I didn't even hear them announce my name.  I was all smiles and being able to wave to everyone made me feel like a princess. :)  This was another miracle, becoming Homecoming Queen and the Homecoming Game exactly 3 weeks from my surgery.

with my Homecoming dress and the wig :)
My wonderful best friends who were super excited right along with me :)

By this time, I was feeling really good and we decided to go forward with the dance.  The next morning, for the day date, we went bowling.  Since it was only a few weeks after my surgery, my parents were nervous about me exerting a lot of effort while bowling.  So, I used the kiddie ramp. :)  Noah was an excellent sport about it, and even helped carry my ball over to the ramp each time.

After bowling, we went to JCW's for shakes.  They were delicious. :)

After getting home, it was time to get ready.  It's always an adventure getting ready for a formal dance, and this time wasn't any different, except for a black fedora we were throwing into the mix of attire. :)

Noah came and picked me up, we took a few pictures in my living room, and then we were off.  We met the group at one of the guys' houses to take pictures.

With the tiara on the fedora just for kicks and giggles ;)

Noah & I

Our terrific group :D
All of us got the memo...except one ;)

We went to another guy's house to have dinner, and then we went to the dance.  At one point, I had to go  up to the front next to the DJ for the Homecoming Royalty dance.  I got to dance with Kelton, which was super fun, even though the music was really loud and I could hardly hear him when we were talking to each other. :P haha :)

The dance was SO fun!  I just took it pretty easy and didn't go crazy because I wanted to be careful.  Noah was such a gentleman and SO considerate the entire time, which I really appreciated.

What an amazing experience this was, to have the incredible opportunity to be the 2013 Homecoming Queen for my school, and go to the Homecoming Dance.  Altogether, it was an experience I will never forget.
