God Will Lift Us Up

I just watched this Youth Mormon Message on lds.org. The message is so powerful and the young woman that the video is about is truly remarkable. I know without a doubt you will feel the Spirit if you watch it with an open heart. I also hope it will be a source of comfort if you are especially in need of it.

Who's the Fairest of Them All?

Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who's the fairest of them all?
Who is this person I call me?
Come a little closer, let's just see.

The child I was?
The girl I am?
The woman I am becoming?

Search very closely and you will see.
That none of them is separate from me.
Your face in the mirror, it is true,
Reflects all three in your image, too.

You're a child of God, His divine spark inside,
You'll discover talents while battling life's tide.
He loves you, you are part of Him.
Your life on earth is not a whim.

The child I was?
The girl I am?
The woman I am becoming?

Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who's the fairest of them all?
You, child of God, of infinite worth,
You're a valiant soul sent to earth.
Trust in God and in His plan.
The spirit in you is one who can.
You are His child, stand with pride.
He urges you, wants you, on His side.

The Waiting Place

In my moments alone, I ask 'Why me?' All the hospitals, doctors, and tests, the endless uncertainty. Is a miracle too much to ask? When I've been faithful in the past?
How can I know what to do? Lord, won't you give me direction? Show me which paths lead to hope. From this path that I'm on to self-destruction. Do my questions have answers? Why has God hidden His face? Why has He left me alone in my waiting place?
In his moments alone, he asks 'Why her?' Why all the suffering and pain when surely God has a cure? Pleading each time he prays, 'Please stop testing my weakness this way.'
How can I know what to do? Lord, won't you show me direction. Show me which paths lead to hope. From this path that I'm on self-destruction. Do my questions have answers? Why has God hidden His face? Why has He left me alone in my waiting place?
As we beg for peace, and trust in His love, we may not get the answers we want, but answers come pouring from Heaven above.
And He whispers, "You will know what to do. Just keep listening for direction. The path is yours to choose. Turn your heart where I beckon. Every question will be answered. So, don't lose your faith. God is here waiting with you in your waiting place."
You are never alone in your waiting place.
(The Waiting Place by Calee Reed)

At different times in our lives, we each feel like we have been left alone in our 'waiting place'. We wonder if the questions that we have actually have answers and if God is really there. There have been times when I haven't known what to do and I have felt so lost and confused. One thing I know for certain about trials is that they are meant to test our weaknesses. They are that way because we are supposed to learn and grow from them. But what I love about this song is that by the end, you realize that all you have to do, through tests and trials, is trust Him. He will show you where to go and He will answer your questions. He never leaves your side, and He is always '[there] waiting with you in your waiting place'.

Never forget that! (:

Nothin' Like the Summer

A firefly glowin' on my left hand, used to pretend it was a weddin' band. A tall cool glass of Mama's lemonade, sold from a stand that me and my sister made. We'd count our quarters in the shade, underneath a tree. The boys in the clubhouse are right next door playin' cops and robbers and the Civil War. We'd all meet up at the swimmin' hole, with marshmallow sticks and our homemade fishin' poles, and the stars would guide us home. Oh, those sweet memories.
A blue-eyed boy with the baseball tan, on the ferris wheel he takes my hand. Long, slow dance underneath the moon, prayin' so hard that the night won't end too soon. He whispers, 'I love you', and I melt into his arms.
Well I love those summer days, drifting on by like a slow parade. And everything feels fine in the warm sunshine, when your world unwinds. And ya kick back in your flip-flops, and ya don't care about the tick-tock, and the world is full of music, dreams, and lovers. There ain't nothin' like the summer. I love those summer days.
The sun goes down, and the barbecue's lit, the radio's playin' that summer hit. We all wish these days would last forever!
I love those summer days...

I LOVE SUMMER!!!! Even though instead of tanning, I burn. (: I love how the weight of school is lifted off your shoulders and you feel so free and happy. The clear skies make you feel like you could accomplish anything if you put your mind to it. I love the warm sunshine and the moments 'when your world unwinds' and the relaxation kicks in. I hope that you love summer as much as I do and I hope that you will make this summer the best summer ever!!

Colors of Cavestock

My high school had an end-of-the-school-year celebration called "Cavestock" on Friday, May 25th. I went with two of my friends and it was a BLAST!!! Honestly, it was the most fun I had had in a LONG time! :) First we got our faces painted, and then we ate free popcorn - yummy! After that, we purchased chalk, walked over to a big field behind the high school and had a mini Festival of Colors. That explains the chalk on my clothes, in my hair, and on my face. It was so much fun!! (even if it was hard to wash off) After we came back, colored from our heads to our toes, we danced to a bunch of fun, up-beat songs. It was a great way to end the year with a bang! :D
